With over 1000 people in attendance – a record – the first FIT Show Gala Dinner at the show’s new home, the NEC, Birmingham, proved a roaring success exceeding the expectations of not only the organisers but its attendees also.
Arriving to a champagne reception, guests were spilling out of the NEC doors due to the sheer volume of numbers at this year’s event. Upon entering the main hall guests were wowed by the Burlesque-themed layout and stage set up – and this was all before any performers even stepped out on to the floor.
As the food and drink started flowing so did the entertainment. For one night only Birmingham switched places with the French capital. Inviting guests to step into the alleyways of deepest, darkest Paris, it was as if the Moulin Rouge had opened its doors for the FIT Show – although in place of Ewan McGregor proceedings were hosted by TV presenter and star of SOS DIY: The Big Build, Nick Knowles.
Aside from the fire jugglers, acrobats, dancers, sultry singers and a hilarious monologue from Nick Knowles where he read a piece of product feedback he saw on Amazon’s website, the evening also played host to the FIT Show Awards, the Master Fitter Challenge winners and the Installation of the Year overall winner.
Following an epic grand finale, guests danced until the early hours of Thursday morning. “The Gala Dinner proved to be a huge success and we were very proud to be able to offer it as a way for guests to let their hair down during such a busy week,” said FIT Show’s Chairman, Matthew Glover. “Our motto was Think BIG and that definitely translated with this year’s Gala Dinner.”
