LINIAR GOES FOR THE HAT TRICK
While cutting-edge systems company Liniar has been hard at work designing ground-breaking new products before the FIT Show in May, that's not all they've been up to.
Manufacturer of the Year Award
In 2018, the marketing team at Liniar entered its trading company HL Plastics into the 2019 Midlands Business awards in the ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ category. Following the announcement that they’d been selected as one of three finalists, an intensive panel interview took place in early November. Business Development Director Tony Basile and Business Development Manager Charlotte Curtis explained about the company’s culture of innovation, investment and people development, then waited for results.
At a prestigious award ceremony on 8th March, Tony and Charlotte found out they’d won, beating two other well established manufacturers – including a company which has been running for more than a century! The judging panel concluded that Liniar's innovation and the passion showed by the company’s employees made it their pick for the overall winner of the category.
Charlotte commented, “The panel interview was quite daunting, but we’d done our preparation and had all of our key statistics to hand. The 20 minute time slot flew by, and the interviewers asked so many questions that we ended up over-running by 10 minutes, so we knew it had gone well – but we didn’t expect to win, so it was a fantastic surprise on the night!”

Apprenticeship Awards
On the same day, Liniar's Training Coordinator Paula Wright, Logistics Director Jeff Newton, Admin Manager Amanda Walker and apprentices Belinda Doyle and Jodi Storer attended the Made in the Midlands Apprenticeship Awards.
Liniar is very vocal about how committed the company is to bringing in fresh talent and providing opportunities to local youths and current employees. Belinda and Jodi were both short-listed for the awards with Belinda in the Respect category and Jodi in the Pride category. With over 3,000 apprentices working with CT Skills, the provider in partnership with Made in the Midlands, it was an honour for both girls to be included in the shortlists. On the day, Belinda Doyle was named as the winner of the Pride award, winning an £80 voucher to Zizzi's restaurant.
Partnership Award
While at the same event, it came as a total surprise when HL Plastics - home of the Liniar Brand - was awarded the Made in the Midlands Partnership award.
The organisers behind the Made in the Midlands Apprenticeship Awards told us why they chose HL Plastics for this honour, citing the company’s relationship with CT Skills having been built over many years and the support the company always gives to its apprentices.
Cath Albans, CT Skills’ Key Account Manager said, “The Partnership Award isn’t just about apprenticeships though, it’s about working together with our employer community to support those in less fortunate positions across our region. HL Plastics as a company is a fantastic example of this - their commitment to their learners and their partnership with us is exemplary.”
Winning three awards on the same day beats all previous records for the innovative systems company! Find out more about Liniar's apprentices by viewing the video at https://www.liniar.co.uk/videos/liniar-investing-in-apprenticeships.
