Spotlight on Women in Fenestration: Jo Trotman, Sales & Marketing Manager at The Residence Collection & Window Widgets

Q: Job title, company, and how long you’ve been in fenestration

Sales & Marketing Manager – The Residence Collection/Window Widgets – 5 years
Previously REHAU for 23 years but only 3 of those years in Windows I think… roughly

Q: What do you love most about working in the sector?

What I love most is the strong sense of community, the friends I have met over the last 5 years! It is an industry that I feel genuinely supports each other and celebrates each other’s successes.

Q: The IWD theme for 2026 is Give to Gain – what has the fenestration industry given you that you didn’t expect, personally or professionally?

The last five years in particular, the industry has given me confidence and opportunities I didn’t expect. It has allowed me to improve my skills and knowledge. I think the important thing for me is I have been able to build great relationships with so many people, it has shown me how welcoming and supportive the industry is.

Q: Who has ‘given to gain’ for you – a woman who opened doors or shared opportunities?

I have been very fortunate to meet several inspiring women, who have shared their time, advice and encouragement. In my early days, Sioned pretty much taught me everything I know about marketing, and I am incredibly grateful for this. Then I joined The Residence Collection, it was Sarah that has mentored me, both professionally and personally, introduced me to the world of windows, as well as guidance on so many other aspects of my role. Her willingness to offer her support and always being my biggest champion really has made a difference in my own confidence and development.

Q: How do you plan to ‘give to gain’ over the coming months – mentoring, knowledge sharing, etc.?

Joining the industry as an apprentice, I was given the support to be who I am today, and for me I will give my knowledge to help support and encourage new voices both within our company and the industry where I can. Just sharing experiences or helping to create opportunities really can make a difference.

Q: Describe women in fenestration in one word.
